ARTYFACTS CD #1 – “The Art of Teaching”

The ''This CD focuses on teaching and learning strategies in Visual Art. It is based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and aims to assist Art educators with planning, implementing and assessing current art curriculum.

It includes aspects of:

- Developing learning using Art.
- Discussing creativity - What is it? How can it be nurtured?
- Investigating - Thinking through Art.
- Examining ways of developing program plans using VELS.
- Using standards and progression points for assessment and reporting.
- Auditing the Art program using VELS.
- Exploring Art dimensions.
- Providing practical art room hints.

It provides teacher guidelines, program content, sample lessons, VELS correlation, assessment guidance, templates and practical advice.





ARTYFACTS CD #2 – “Making ART Connections”

This CD focuses on Assessment and Reporting in the Visual Arts and has been based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS).

The disc contains guidelines for Art assessment, templates for evaluation, student work samples with teacher annotations, mapping student progress, using letter grades and useful strategies for teaching practice.

A must for curriculum planning, as it links the VELS domains of Physical, Personal and Social Learning, Discipline-based Learning and Interdisciplinary Learning with a whole year’s Scope and Sequence document.

It provides art educators with a practical resource to meet their needs.


Lesley Hodgson is an experienced Art teacher (30+ years) who has written Art Curriculum documents and Exemplary Assessment material; is an Arts Network Leader for the Northern Metropolitan Region; presented workshops in both city and rural settings and is an A.E.V councilor.
